BSNL, Chennai telecom circle becomes the first BSNL circle in the country to launch BSNL Tunes, the innovative value-added service called Ring back tone to all its Postpaid Mobile Subscribers. The services have been launched on the short code 567.
BSNL has partnered OnMobile a company incubated by Infosys technologies, to deploy the Ring back tone services for the South zone covering the 4 circles of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. BSNL-Chennai telecom circle, Chief General Manager Mr.Veluswamy confirmed the launch of the services with the first commercial advertisement on the services on 9th of December 06. The services for the prepaid subscribers will be launched very soon.
The services branded by BSNL as BSNL tunes offers mobile subscribers the option to set their favorite songs as ring back tone for all callers to listen to instead of the boring tring tring. As per Mr Sidharth Sharma-National Sales Manager OnMobile, “BSNL subscribers had been eagerly awaiting the launch of the RBT services which had been launched by private operators more than one year back.”
Considering the complexity of BSNL's multi vendor network, the launch of these services is a result of the zest and commitment of BSNL and the technical abilities of OnMobile in ensuring the successful launch of these services for the Mobile subscribers of the South zone. The services on IVR are based on the tried & tested voice recognition technology that OnMobile Asia Pacific Pvt. Ltd. has been using to power the now famous BSNL IVR service 12555.
The services are charged at Rs.20/- per month for subscription & Rs.12/- per song selection as an RBT. The services can be subscribed to via the voice channel as well as via SMS for which subscribers are charged accordingly as per the BSNL tariff plan for the services.
OnMobile has already been providing the voice based value added services for the Mobile & landline subscribers on the short code 12555 since the last one & a half years. The services are now live across the country & provide premium value added services including Ringtones, Dial-a-Song, Jokes, Cricket and News, PNR enquiry & lots more. Over 55 million BSNL subscribers have enjoyed this service since launch. |
