HCL launches ‘Datacentre in a Box'

HCL Infosystems has announced the launch of ‘Datacentre in a Box', a first-of-its-kind integrated solution that meets the complete IT infrastructure requirements of small and medium enterprises. “Data centre in a box” is a unique offering as it offers a simplified one-point solution to all the IT infrastructure needs that an emerging business has. The solution comes with high-technology modules along with network components and remote management systems in a single rack with space and power-saving design that is highly cost-effective for the emerging enterprises.

Most Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) require IT solutions that simplify the complexity, are affordable, scalable and have good back up support. HCL ‘Datacentre in a Box' is designed to be simple yet it can support business applications including ERP, CRM, SCM, mail, web (proxy) and print services, that are required by small and medium enterprises. The solution is also adaptable and scalable to the evolving business needs ; HCL Infosystems assures a single-point contact for support, freeing enterprises of the hassles of calling multiple vendors.

HCL also plans to have a pan India road show of the solutions focusing on the SMB clusters.

According to Mr. R Ravichandran, Director – Sales, Intel South Asia “Increasingly, medium sized enterprises across the country are investing in world class IT solutions. The HCL “Data Centre in a Box” based on the Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5300 processors provide more headroom for server virtualization than any other two-processor, standard, high-volume server platform. The new processors can deliver up to 50 percent faster performance within the same thermal envelope as the previous generation Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5100 series launched less than five months ago. The HCL “Data Centre in a Box” based on Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors deliver immense speed and responsiveness for general purpose servers, workstations, digital media creation, high-end gaming and other market segments that crave absolute performance.”

The Indian SMB market is estimated at approximately 7.5 million businesses, of which only 21 per cent are known to make use of PCs. According to an AMI survey, at present only 40 per cent of networked SMBs have deployed servers, while close to one-third of such small business organizations are planning to deploy a server in the next 12 months.
