ThoughtWorks releases next version CruiseControl Enterprise

June 25, 2007

ThoughtWorks, a global IT consultancy, has announced the release of CruiseControl Enterprise, a major update to CruiseControl, the industry standard continuous integration framework. CruiseControl, widely used in Agile development, accelerates predictable, reliable delivery of software applications. An international ThoughtWorks Studios team has spent the last four months developing the major new components of the latest release.

Aimed at IT departments and software teams within large organisations, CruiseControl Enterprise includes a major refresh of the user web interface, with added usability for observing current and past builds, and the introduction of an executive-level programme management dashboard offering meaningful ‘blink’ reporting at the highest level.

Open sourced by ThoughtWorks in 2001, CruiseControl integrates with over 50 build and configuration management tools and includes plug-ins for email notification, Ant, and various source control tools. CruiseControl is free to use under a BSD-style license.

Paul Julius, a co-founder of CruiseControl and product manager for CruiseControl Enterprise at ThoughtWorks, said: “We are really excited to be including in our suite of applications the latest release of CruiseControl Enterprise. Solving the really difficult problems faced by today's enterprise IT departments has been a goal of ThoughtWorks for a number of years. Now, our enterprise customers, who have been benefiting from the system for over six years, can enjoy the updated interface and the new reporting dashboard.

CruiseControl, maintained and developed by a group of dedicated open source volunteers, is used by more than 3,000 companies globally, at least 40 of which are Fortune 1000 companies. Globally approximately 60,000 people interact with CruiseControl regularly. CruiseControl has been downloaded more than 280,000 times in its 6 year history.
