HCL & SNIA India Announce Tutorials On Storage Technologies

May 18, 2007

HCL Technologies and Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) India , the apex storage networking industry body in the country, have announced that they have joined forces to promote awareness on storage networking technologies for end-users and professionals aspiring to join the storage networking practice. This joint initiative is aimed at building a talent pool of trained storage professionals. According to industry estimates available, about 1 million new storage professionals will be required globally by year 2012. In the recent past, storage has become a rapidly growing practice and has touched the US$ 65 billion mark globally in terms of total value.

SNIA India and HCL Technologies will hold a series of tutorials in Chennai for the benefit of end users from May 19, 2007 to June 30, 2007 . All end users of storage products and technologies would find the program useful for enhancing their skills and domain expertise. They will be trained thoroughly on specific storage technologies by industry veterans who possess exhaustive experience and extensive knowledge on global storage best practices.

HCL Technologies has been a strong player in the IT services industry focused on global storage product vendors for the good part of a decade now. It has a four year old association with SNIA. It is among the few companies in the storage landscape best suited to deliver a quality training program on storage technologies. With this 'one-of-its-kind' specialized training program, HCL Technologies also hopes to attract fresh talent in the area of storage technologies.

According to GH Rao, Corporate Vice President, HCL Technologies Ltd., "This is a novel and a significant initiative because it addresses the gap that exists in training needs in this highly specialized domain. It is only apt that the SNIA India, the apex storage networking industry body and HCL Technologies, a leading player in this space, recognized for its trained manpower in storage practices come together to train end users and prospective employees as that would help meet the growing demand for highly specialized skills in this rapidly developing field."

"According to Mr. Sharad Srivastava, Chairman SNIA India, "These tutorials will help the attendees attain SNIA SNCP (Storage Networking Certification Program). In fact, 80 per cent of the SNIA education program attendees in the past have been successful at this certification. Besides, these tutorials will also make them more employable as they'll get to learn contemporary practices in the industry. These kinds of industry-academia initiatives are a must for bridging the void that exists between demand and availability as far as trained storage networking professionals are concerned."

Interested end-users can register for the tutorial by sending a mail to snia-tutorials@hcl.in . The schedule and venue for tutorials is as follows:
