Scott McNealy, co-founder & Chairman, Sun Microsystems, has addressed a gathering of more than 1000 developers at the Sun Technology Summit 07 in Bangalore . In his keynote address, “Open Possibilities, “McNealy discussed the importance of open standards for developers as they bring applications to market and quickly monetize them. Aptly titled Innovation and Beyond, the day long summit featured tracks and in-depth sessions on various aspects of Java, AJAX, Web 2.0, Solaris, Web services by eminent Sun Technology experts from all over the world.

Java Technology at the Center of India 's Growing Software Industry
Java technology is playing a pivotal role in India 's prominence as one of the world's leading software development centers. Over 3.5 million Indian developers are now using Java technology on more types of mobile devices, smart cards, ATMs, thin clients, PCs, servers and mainframes than any other software. Sun Tech Days, the premier developer conference from Sun is part of Sun's ongoing effort to support India 's software developers through education, information and development tools such as the Sun Java Studio Creator application development tool and the open-sourced NetBeans software products. This year's Sun Tech Days in India saw a participation of more than 10,000 developers. A recent study undertaken by two professors of IIM Ahmedabad makes an attempt to assess and quantify the economic impact of Java in India . The study concludes that Java contributes to 2.1% of the Indian GDP.
Solaris 10 Operating System (OS) Gains Momentum in India
