Red Hat Launches Global Services Centre in India

April 20, 2007

Red Hat has announced the launch of its Global Services Centre in India. The opening of this Global Services Centre contributes to Red Hat's vision of drawing on open source competencies and creating centres of engineering, support and services across its global operations. This Global Services Centre, based in Mumbai, will build and implement open source enterprise solutions and services for Red Hat's global customers in close partnership with global Indian software services companies.

"Our global enterprise customers are deploying complex workloads using the latest open source technologies. This is creating a huge demand for quality solutions and services delivered onsite and on demand," said Charlie Peters, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Red Hat. " India is a pioneer and leader in the global services delivery model and the Indian development community is widely recognized for its expertise and its contribution to open source development. The success of support services delivered to global customers from our centre in Pune, set up in February 2005, has been instrumental in choosing India as the destination for Red Hat's Global Services Centre. Red Hat intends to scale up the operations of this Global Services Centre by 100 engineers over the next twelve months."

"Red Hat's Global Services Centre will provide an opportunity for innovation in open source development and services," said Nandkumar Pradhan, President and Managing Director, Red Hat India. "This Centre will work on a hybrid delivery model of captive skills as well as partner with global Indian software services companies to deliver services to our global customers. We look forward to nurturing technical resources that will lead complex open source projects to fruition."

Red Hat's enterprise solutions see deployment in the majority of Fortune 500 customer environments and are renowned for their performance, value and reliability. Enterprise customers are now seeking to deploy open source technology in increasingly complex workloads, using the latest in open source technology, but with the proven stability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
