HP has organized the “HP Mobile Innovations Tour” to showcase concepts around the future of mobile communications in India. These conceptual creations represent a vision for the 2012 timeframe where devices are function-specific and provide an “always connected” experience. This unique platform also highlights the company's vision for an extraordinarily simple, elegant and easy-to-use mobile computing experience.
“HP's vision of the future of mobility is a world where simple devices inter-operate to deliver a cohesive, always connected lifestyle,” said Phil Devlin, Manager, Product Marketing, Mobile Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, Hewlett-Packard Asia-Pacific and Japan. He further added, “Anyone can make the simple complicated – true creativity lies in making the complicated simple.”
The current mobile environment is getting increasingly complex as laptops, mobile phones, PDAs and digital cameras all continue to add more features, options and wireless technologies. HP's perspective of the future mobility concepts follows the philosophy that “out of integrated complexity will come disintegrated simplicity.”
Speaking on the launch, P. Raghuraman, Country Manager – Commercial Notebooks, Personal Systems Group, HP India said, “The HP Mobile Innovation Tour gives a window to experience the future of mobility. HP being the market leader has always been ahead of the curve in innovation. We strongly believe in providing advanced products to our customers by constantly upgrading technology through our robust Research and Development footprint.”
The showcase includes gadgets such as a personal wireless gateway device – in a wearable watch-like form factor; a flexible, portable, personal size display mat that is “always on” and ready to connect to the wireless hub/watch; a thin-client device in a tablet form factor that can take on the personality of the user based on “personal wireless gateway” information ; a digital wallet that displays up-to-the-moment transactions for a wide variety of personal services such as checking, credit cards; a smart shelf that allows communal display of information and serves as a charger for the wireless gateway/watch etc. With these, HP is creating and enabling experiences that allow users easy access to information and content where they want it, when they want it, on simple devices that are natural to the user.
Innovation in Design
Innovation in design is at the core of HP's mobility vision. HP's quality focus is driving these innovations – via continuous meaningful improvements to its suite of technology solutions. HP's business notebooks for instance undergo over 95,000 hours of testing to ensure superior quality and what is one the highest notebook quality standards in the industry.
As a leader in industrial design, HP is committed to understanding the end-users' design preferences. HP's design philosophy is to create products that provide clear and simple interfaces to users about what to do, when and where to use the product.
HP conducted extensive research across three continents on users' preferences as well as a number of trend sources, ranging from fashion to modern furniture in an effort to understand personal design preferences when developing a new look for a consumer notebook. Similarly, the intent to deliver a comprehensive customer experience led to the design and incorporation of HP Professional Innovations in HP's business notebook range. HP Professional Innovations is a suite of hardware features and software solutions that are designed to enhance security improve ease of use and ensure reliability.
“Innovations in design is about balancing aesthetics and functionality in a way that makes meaningful and logical sense for the end-user, “ said Stacy Wolff, Director of Notebook Design, Personal Systems Group, HP Worldwide. “Our goal is to design mobility products that deliver an intuitive, pleasant and safe experience for individuals and businesses”.
Mobility is a key strategic growth segment in the industry – globally, and in Asia Pacific. IDC forecasts that the APEJ mobile worker population will increase to 582.5 million or 31.1% of the workforce by 2009. HP's 2007 range of mobility offerings include consumer/business notebooks and handhelds which feature breakthrough industrial design and cutting-edge features and bring to market technology innovations, be it rich personal entertainment or secure reliable and easy-to-use experiences for both consumer and business users.
