Febuary 22, 2007

Revolving around the theme of 'Shape your future', and thus driving home the message that opportunities are plenty; one needs to develop skills and participate in communities changing the face of technology, Sun Microsystems India has rolled out the 8th edition of Sun Tech Days, at the Hyderabad International Convention Center, in Hyderabad. Sun Tech Days 2007 highlighted the opportunities available for the developer community and sought to drive home the key messages: participation, sharing, and collaboration.

The conference was kicked off with an industry keynote delivered by Mr. Ramalinga Raju, CEO, Satyam Computer Ltd and Rich Green, Executive Vice President, Software, Sun Microsystems focusing on how the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies coupled with the continued movement towards open source is providing unique opportunities for developers to innovate and create value on the network.

Since its inception, Sun Tech Days has grown manifold to emerge as the definitive developer forum for the Java technology and Solaris Operating System communities in India and across the world. This year too was no different with close to 10,000 developers participating in Sun Tech Days 2007 across the four cities of Hyderabad , Delhi , Mumbai and Pune over the first two days of the conference as well as in the ancillary events of Java ME Day, OpenSolaris Day and NetBeans Day on February 23rd, the concluding day of the conference.

This year's event was kicked off with technical and hands-on sessions on all relevant areas of Java technology including Java Platform Standard Edition, Java Platform Enterprise Edition, Java Platform Micro Edition, as well as popular topics such as Solaris 10, Open Source, Web 2.0 and AJAX.

The conference underscored the need for Indian developers to move to the next level by collaborating, contributing and competing on global technology platforms. The event also included sessions and self paced Hands on Labs on developer tools such as Sun Java Studio Creator and developer days dedicated to the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment, OpenSolaris and Java University (JavaU) training.

" Tech Days are a true collaboration between Sun, its partners and over four and a half million developers committed to Sun's free and open Solaris and Java platforms," said Rich Green, Executive Vice President, Software, Sun Microsystems Inc. "This unique event provides developers with practical, detailed information on technical topics, which can help developers be productive immediately."
