To counter the increasing incidence of cyber crime and other Internet security threats, Trend Micro has unveiled its 2008 suite of consumer security products.
Of the three products introduced, Trend Micro Internet Security Pro is a new offering from the company, while Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008 and Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 are updates to existing products. Trend Micro 2008 security products give consumers powerful protection from cyber criminals by safeguarding multiple attack points - from the operating system to browsers to keyboards.

By focusing on the core customer needs, Trend Micro has made several enhancements to the new line up over the previous products. For instance, there is an enhanced protection against latest malware, and the suit also boasts of 30 percent faster manual scanning than competing products. It also has easy reporting and more convenient manageability – including a simplified and elegant user interface.

Improved Performance and Installation
Trend Micro 2008 products are optimized for performance and convenience. To enhance user experience, the products have been made faster by reducing computer resource consumption.
Memory consumption has decreased by approximately 50 percent over last year's products, and manual scanning is more than 30 percent faster than competing products. Trend Micro has also acted on customer feedback, and improved the ease-of-use. With a simplified installation and setup routine, Trend Micro Internet Security now requires just three steps to complete installation.
Protection Against Latest Malware
In order to combat the increase in insidious threats, Trend Micro has enhanced the anti-malware protection in its new products. New and improved functionality also includes proactive intrusion blocking, Web threat protection, enhanced anti-spam capabilities, a two-way firewall and fully integrated antivirus and anti-spyware engines.

This new technology boasts non-signature-based, real-time prevention capabilities that dynamically adapt to new and emerging threats. By monitoring application activities on a computer, it is able to prevent malicious changes to a machine, before they can take effect. In addition, the number of alerts is reduced, because the technology can trace changes to their sources instead of reacting to them individually.
Trend Micro Web Threat Protection guards users from the growing number of cyber attacks such as 'The Italian Job' through technology that goes beyond traditional URL filtering capabilities and assesses the safety of a Web page based on a number of factors including age, content, behavior and reputation. Consumers will therefore have greater protection without sacrificing the ability to surf the Web, because Web Threat Protection blocks specific pages and content that contain malware, rather than blocking an entire website.
