Oracle is the fastest growing stand-alone business intelligence (BI) platform vendor in Asia Pacific, excluding Japan , according to Gartner.  Based on a recent Gartner report Source: Gartner, "Market Share: Business Intelligence Platforms, Asia/Pacific, 2005", 15 January 2007., Oracle registered 64.8% revenue growth in the stand-alone BI market in Asia Pacific in 2005, compared to the previous year. "This report shows we are clearly the BI platform of choice in open, heterogeneous environments across Asia Pacific," said Ricky Kapur, General Manager, Business Intelligence, Oracle Asia Pacific. "Leading organizations in the region are leveraging the Oracle Business Intelligence platform to exploit their information assets more efficiently for sustainable competitive advantage. More and more, organizations are transforming
insights into actions to leverage the right opportunities, maximize revenues, and increase operational efficiency."

"Early adopters of business intelligence solutions in India have been telecom and financial services organisations," said SPS Grover, Vice President Technology Sales, Oracle India . "Banking has been a major growth driver for BI applications due to Basel II compliance and increasing competition which is forcing banks to focus on customer analytics, services and fraud management."

The increasing price wars and customer churn are forcing telecom providers to introduce value added services, which are best addressed through BI," Grover added. "The boom in knowledge process outsourcing centres, IT enabled services companies and the retail sector will also see a demand for BI rise in the country."

IDC predicts that in 2006-2007, a new wave of investment in BI applications will appear as demand grows for "BI for the masses," requiring more scalable applications with easier-to-use interfaces. IDC, Information Access Predictions 2006-2007, Doc #34951, Feb 2006 IDC forecasts that the BI software and Business Performance Management & Financial Analytics (BPM) markets in Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ) will jointly reach at least US$670 million by 2010.

"Pervasive business intelligence will drive the next wave of BI deployments in Asia Pacific including in India ," said Kapur. "Traditionally, business intelligence is limited to tactical reporting and typically deployed in silos.  Globalization, volatile markets, deregulation, intensified competition is increasing the demand for timely and relevant data for effective decision-making across all levels of the organization."
