Brother International establishes subsidiary in India

Brother International, has announced the establishment of a fully owned subsidiary in India to focus on the "Printing & Solutions" business and "Personal & Home" business of Brother products like laser printers, Multi function products, Fax machines, Labelling solutions and domestic sewing and embroidery solutions. The overall market for imaging and printing devices such as printers and digital multi-function centers, that are Brother's flagship products, are expected to expand in India while the country's PC market is enlarging. The company expects to achieve the one billion yen mark by early 2008.

Mr.Toyomi Ido - Representative Director and President, Brother International Corporation, Japan , said, "Globally, this completes our BRIC presence. Given the importance of the Indian market, our operations will get the complete attention, support and mind share of the Head quarters." Brother International ( India ) Pvt. Ltd will be a direct subsidiary of Brother International Corporation, Japan and will focus on Marketing, sales, customer support function for Brother products in the region.

Mr.Toshiyuki Takamure – who has been appointed as the Managing Director, Brother International (India) Pvt. Ltd., said, "Our objective would be on further strengthening our sales and customer support activities, and boosting Brother's brand image in the country. India is a very challenging market and we are confident of replicating the success we have achieved in other markets in the region in terms of market share. We are committed to meeting the challenges by closely working together with channel partners and end users, to achieve the goals."

Mr. Seiichi Hirata - Representative Director and President, Brother Industries, Japan , who was present at the occasion said, "Our objective is towards expansion of printing business and securing Brother's competitive edge in the market, while increasing the investments. This is in keeping with our global theme `Driving Brothers Growth' as part of our three year rolling plan ending 2009. We are confident that India along with China will emerge as a very big contributor to our business in the future"

The Indian operations, is being set up with an initial capital of US $ 3 million. Headquartered from Mumbai, Brother International ( India ) Pvt. Ltd. has been designated as the operational base for Brother's sales activities in the country. The company will initially have four branches that includes the other three metros and Bangalore . Brother is also planning to double its head count in the country from the current 25 to about 50 within the next quarter.
