Fortinet to Fuel New Managed Security Service

March 6, 2007

Fortinet has announced that NTT Communications' (NTT Com) IT Management Services (ITMS), has selected Fortinet's network security systems and subscription services to fuel its new managed security service targeted at businesses in Japan.

To meet the growing demand for managed security services -- driven by increased security threats and decreased IT resources, especially among small and medium enterprises -- NTT Com is launching a new unified threat management (UTM) managed security service. NTT Com's new UTM service offers antivirus protection, but can also extend security to cover the full range of security threats to networks, from viruses and Trojans to spyware and spam. The UTM service will involve Fortinet's FortiGate -50B multi-threat security systems deployed at customer sites; FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiGate carrier-class systems deployed at NTT Com's Security Operations Center; remote monitoring and maintenance from NTT Com; and updates, incident response and expertise from Fortinet's FortiGuard Center and global threat response team. The service also includes hosted comprehensive security services and 24x7 support and consulting solutions to business customers.

“Based on comprehensive tests comparing our products and services with competitors, NTT Com selected Fortinet for its new offering. This is a strong endorsement by Japan 's premier telecommunications and networking company of our technology and our proficiency in the field of network security, so we are both honored and very pleased,” said Mr. Yoshimitsu Okamoto, president of Fortinet Japan.

Comprehensive Security Products Backed by World-Class Threat Research

NTT Com selected Fortinet's FortiGate-50B systems to deploy at customer sites as part of its UTM managed service offering. Like all FortiGate systems, the FortiGate-50B systems deliver comprehensive network and content protection through the integration of eight essential security applications and services - including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention (IPS), antispam, antispyware, Web filtering and traffic shaping.

Another key factor in NTT Com's selection of Fortinet was the stellar reputation of its FortiGuard Center, an online threat information resource, and FortiGuard global threat response network of researchers around the world who are responsible for threat analysis, development of countermeasures, and pushing real-time global updates to Fortinet's FortiGate systems to help protect against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans and other threats.
