Atos Origin, an information technology services provider has announced that its facility in Mumbai has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification for compliance with specified requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, maintaining and improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
The ISO/IEC 27001 is an information security management system standard (ISMS) published in October 2005 by the International Organisation for Standardisation and the International Electrotechnical Commission. The standard is the enhancement of the British Standard BS 7799: 2000 which focuses on protecting the availability, confidentiality and integrity of organizational information. The ISO/IEC 27001 includes securing an organization's IT infrastructure, data and information from being lost, misused or tampered; and ensuring the availability of information to authorised individual whenever required under all circumstances. It also mandates monitoring and reviewing third party supplier performances, conducting risk assessment of supplier and measurement of effectiveness of controls.
