Patni Computer has announced the winners of their whitepaper contest “FORESIGHT” for students of management institutes in India . The cash prize of Rs. 25, 000 was received by Abesh Chatterjee and Abhishek Gaurav from NITIE for a project on Imperatives of Global Outsourcing.
The second and third prize of Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 was awarded to students of IIM (I) and IIM (L) respectively. Open to students from across the country, the contest was judged on subject knowledge, thought leadership, practicality and originality as well as cogency and coherence of thoughts. The top ten entries were given the opportunity to travel to Mumbai and present their papers to Patni's management team.
Announcing the results of the contest, Ms. Kalpana Jaishankar, VP- People Development & HR Operations at Patni said, “FORESIGHT offers an excellent opportunity for students to present fresh, thought provoking perspectives on the challenges, issues, and opportunities faced by Indian IT services companies, and strategies that need to be adopted to succeed in a global environment. This contest also helps us to directly interact with students in colleges today, giving an insight into their understanding of the industry. All ten finalists portrayed the FORESIGHT we sought and after much deliberation we selected the top three."
FORESIGHT sought whitepapers on three subjects: Imperatives for Global Sourcing, Mergers & Acquisitions for global delivery of services: Opportunities & Challenges for Indian IT companies, and From a low-cost service provider to a partner in business transformation: Influencing the shift in perception about Indian IT companies. Patni received 130 registrations for this contest from institutes like IIM (A), IIM (B), IIM (C), IIM (K), School of Management (IIT, Mumbai), NMIMS, FMS, NITIE and TISS.
Patni organized a similar contest for engineering students in Gujarat last year where more than 150 students from over 50 engineering students participated for whitepapers on topics ranging from Networking, Software Testing, IT and Social values to Bio-informatics. |
