The era of convergence has just begun. Today, the technology developers are using their skill set to develop single platform where the various technology can be converged. The convergence of technology can be seen on mobile phone, Multi function Printers, Digital cameras and various sorts of electronic gadgets. This convergence trend is not only seen in different product ranges but also in marketing strategies of the various vendors. For example let us take the case of LG marketing strategy. The company has just entered into retail business where he has opened 'Fone and Fun' shop. This shop is a clear example of converged type of marketing strategy where IT ranges of products as well as GSM ranges of products is put on display. This outlet, which is targeted towards the home segment, displays LCD monitors, notebooks, desktop PCs, high-end CRT monitors, high-end optical drives like DVD drives, combo drives, etc, along with GSM handsets.

Buying trend of mobile in India

With the growth of Indian economy, the buying behavior of the consumers has showed a rapid change in a decade. If we take the case of mobile phones world wide then it is predicated that global mobile phone users would swell to three billion by the turn of this decade. This is going to generate a huge opportunity for vendors, distributors and resellers to generate revenue from mobile business. As far as Indian consumers are concerned it is evident that they are becoming choosier while purchasing mobile devices. Though the market is mushrooming with the availability of mobile both GSM as well as CDMA, but the consumers are looking for handset that are easy to use, contains more features, have stylish look and above all carries converged technology like, FM, Digital cameras, Bluetooth technology etc. on a single platform. The consumers in India are on demand of content that can be shared on multiple platforms. They want handsets supporting music and providing a tremendous listening experience. This kind of demand has caused the mobile vendors to continuously upgrade their technologies.

Apart from that the biggest driver of the market in future will be entertainment. We all are aware that the gaming industry is going to boom in India in near future. Today the end customers are looking for devices that carries platform for entertainment. The traditional games industry business is in a state of transition, with mobile handsets rapidly becoming more capable of game play. In near future the mobile games industry is more like the console business than PC. So it is becoming a prerequisite for and all the mobile vendors to offer more advanced gaming platform on mobile devices.

The future market for Service provider

Today, there is huge untapped demand for mobile email services in the consumer market. While mobile email services have so far been targeted mainly at the enterprise market, there is a much larger addressable market in the consumer space. The consumer market is a little bit messier but operators cannot ignore the consumer market for too long. The consumer mobile email can be a profitable business once operators understand their customers better. For consumer services to be successful it is important to make mobile email far easier to use and more targeted at what a user actually needs or wants. The services must be technically very easy to set up and use, and must also not require a user to buy a new phone because the Indian consumer cannot afford to buy a new device just to get a data service. Apart from that the service provider should not clutter the device with too many features.
