October 1, 2007

Over 50 Oracle PartnerNetwork companies in India including HCL Technologies Limited, Infosys, Satyam Computer, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro have been enabled to implement Oracle Database 11 g for customers in India . Enablement resources from Oracle PartnerNetwork and Oracle University facilitate go-to-market opportunities, market expansion and revenue growth for Oracle partners who are leveraging Oracle Database 11g to expand their business. This was announced by Oracle India vice president for Technology Sales, SPS Grover.

Oracle Database 11 g , which was announced globally in July 2007 and available on Linux operating systems since August 15, 2007 , has undergone 15 million test hours and 36,000 person-months of development. With more than 400 features, Oracle Database 11g is the most innovative and highest quality software product Oracle has ever announced.

“Over 80% of our business in India is managed through our partners. Enabling our partners to implement the latest version of our database is key to the adoption of Oracle Database 11g in the country,” said SPS Grover, Vice President of Technology Sales for Oracle India . “Organisations that manage very high volumes of data require self-managing databases which can be upgraded with minimal disruption. Financial services, communications and government organisations in India which have to surmount a large number of security and compliance issues, will benefit immensely from the new features and functionality of Oracle Database 11 g.”

“Wipro Infotech 's participation as a pioneer partner of Oracle in beta testing the Oracle Database 11 g product is a step forward in delivering mission critical IT infrastructure to enterprise customers across India . In addition to our integration and management capabilities on Oracle Database 11 g , Wipro's customers can now take advantage of the high performance and self-management features of this product to tackle the multifarious needs of organisations that constantly face dynamic changes. Wipro is poised to help customers derive the maximum value by partnering with Oracle for Oracle Database 11 g ,” said Mr. Deepak Jain, vice president, Managed IT, Wipro Limited.

Oracle conducted Oracle Database 11 g introductory sessions for over 50 partner organisations in India in July and August 2007. Oracle Technology Days and Oracle Database 11 g deep dive sessions will commence for more than 20 Indian partners from October onwards. All Oracle PartnerNetwork companies with membership in the Database Product Focus Area have access to development, education, support, tools, sales and marketing resources to facilitate the incorporation of Oracle Database 11 g and associated options into third-party solutions.

Oracle University , Oracle's education division, also offers Oracle Database 11 g training courses including:

  • Oracle Database 11 g : New Features for Administrators (5 days)
  • Oracle Database 11 g : New Features Overview Seminar (1 day)
  • Oracle Database 11 g : Change Management Overview Seminar (1 day)

Oracle Database 11 g extends Oracle's unique database clustering, data centre automation, and workload management capabilities. With its strong data management capabilities, it offers an ideal platform for grid computing and fine grained, application independent information lifecycle management. Its information lifecycle management will enable organizations to ensure regulatory compliance, optimize storage, streamline business processes and reduce cost. Oracle Database 11g introduces more self-management and automation that will help customers reduce their system management costs, while increasing performance, scalability, availability and security of their database applications. Oracle Database 11g will also offer developers a choice of development tools and a streamlined application development process that takes full advantage of key Oracle Database 11 g features.

Oracle continues to lead the standard for data-intensive software solutions . IDC recently reported that Oracle extended its database leadership by capturing 49% of the APAC relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) market in 2006, more than double the market share of its nearest competitor. According to the same report, Oracle also grew its RDBMS software revenue by 15.6% year-on-year, faster than the market average. Oracle has 58.9 percent of the relational database management systems market in India in 2006.
