Linksys has announced the immediate availability of its new Network Attached Storage (NAS) solution, the Network Storage System with 2 Bays (NAS200). The NAS200 full range of functions and its attractive pricing helps to address the needs of home users in building an affordable, expandable and accessible storage solution for their network.
The NAS200 is designed to enable consumers to share, utilize, and secure valuable data over their networks. Uses include streaming music or high definition videos stored on the NAS200 for playback via the built-in media server for streaming to PC or UPnP AV digital media adapter.
The stand-alone network appliance NAS200 features two 3.5 inch SATA drive bays which allow users to attach the storage they need. For even more expandability, there are two USB ports, through which users can easily connect an external hard disk drive or flash disk to quickly access or back up portable data. A Setup Wizard is designed to make the NAS200 easy to configure, and backup of important files is done with the touch of a button and bundled backup software.
“Digital photos, music, and videos are requiring more storage capacity than ever before as the connected home continues to grow. The NAS200 is an expandable home network appliance that is designed to allow users to easily add storage space to their network,” said Sanjeev Gupta, Linksys regional sales director for Asia Pacific.
“Linksys is giving consumers the opportunity to choose the hard drive capacity that is right for them, and to easily backup their irreplaceable personal content such as digital photos. The NAS200 is really an affordable, expandable and accessible storage solution for home users.” He added.
As a true NAS device, the NAS200 does not require a client utility that must be run on PC. Connecting the Storage System to the network is easy. Simply install one or more hard drives in the Network Storage System and connect it to an available 10/100 Ethernet port on a router or switch, and the storage is instantly accessible by the whole network. The NAS200 can also be set up to be accessible directly from the Internet via a web browser or ftp client.
This feature means that users can access their backups and enjoy their music files securely from anywhere, simply input the NAS200 URL from their desktops, laptop or mobile devices while on-the-go and stream their favourite music on a MAC or PC, without having to copy music files to these devices. Users can choose to share their files publicly, or create password-protected accounts for authorized users.
