HP Reiterates Leadership in the Storage Space

October 5, 2007

HP StorageWorks has announced a range of new storage offerings specifically designed for midsize and growing businesses, helping them accelerate growth, mitigate risk and reduce operating costs.

The suite of storage offerings including HP DL380 G5 Storage Server, HP 6000 Virtual Library System, HP StorageWorks IP Distance Gateway and HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System cater to the business requirements of data consolidation and business continuity.

Midsize customers deal constantly with the restrictions of time, budget, power & staff. These solutions are tailor-made to cater to these specific demands.

HP StorageWorks All-in-One SB600c Storage Blade

The HP StorageWorks All-in-One SB600c Storage Blade, the newest member of HP's easy-to-use family of All-in-One Storage Systems (AiOs) for midsize businesses, allows rapidly growing businesses to quickly add capacity or migrate to new technology faster and more simply than ever before.

Similar to other members of the AiO family, the SB600c combines network-attached storage (NAS), storage area network (SAN) and data protection functions under a single management umbrella to enable small IT staffs without specialized storage expertise to quickly respond to changing business.

HP DL380 G5 Storage Server:

The HP DL380 G5 Storage Server is a fast and easy way for customers to add file storage to their network.  Its pre-installed operating system and pre-configured internal storage enables businesses to be up and serving files in minutes. This solution supports multiple file sharing protocols, so businesses can consolidate and make a single centralized platform to manage, protect and create a scalable disk-based backup/replication target.

The Windows-powered operating system is pre-installed and internal storage is pre-configured, so it's a quick, secure, and easy way to add storage to one's network or to add intelligent file and iSCSI services to one's Fibre-Channel SAN.

HP 6000 Virtual Library System:

The HP 6000 Virtual Library System simplifies theSAN environment by providing more virtual devices, reducing the complexity of shared storage while maintaining the manageability of a single system.  This system offers backup and recovery that integrates seamlessly into the customers existing environment providing improved performance and reliability of the data protection process.

The highlights of the new system are that new higher capacity 750GB drives provide 50% more storage. The system also offers new hardware compression on the HP VLS6600 and provides up to 105.6 TB of storage without affecting performance.

HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System:

The HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System provides reliable, consolidated data protection for up to four servers in a single, self-managing device ideal for growing and mid-sized businesses. This system works with the businesses backup software application to fully automate daily backup jobs, requiring less manual handling – a real benefit for organizations with limited IT resources.

The HP D2D Backup System also increases the reliability of backups by reducing the risk of human error and problems with tape drive hardware and media, the two major causes of failed backups. This simple solution fits right into an existing Windows or Linux environment, working with the current hardware and software in most cases.
