Allied Telesis Unveils New 48-Port Fast Ethernet WebSmart Switch

September 12, 2007

Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, has launched the AT-FS750/48, its new Fast Ethernet WebSmart switch. The AT-FS750/48 features 48 10/100TX, 2 SFP and 2 10/100/1000T. With its high port density, the AT-FS750/48 is particularly suitable for use in computer rooms where space is limited. The new AT-FS750/48 combines the simplicity of unmanaged switches with easy-to-use, web-based management functionality to provide a powerful yet cost-effective networking solution.

Web-based Management and Security Features Out of the Box

The AT-FS750/48 offers excellent security with its support for IEEE 802.1x user authentication in conjunction with a RADIUS server, ensuring that only authorized users are permitted to access the network. For additional performance, Allied Telesis' new switch supports port trunking, enabling multiple ports to operate together to provide higher bandwidth between the switch and another networking device. This feature is especially useful for reducing the over-subscription ratio on the Gigabit uplink. The new WebSmart switch also offers port mirroring to facilitate the diagnosis of network problems. With its support for port-based and tagged (IEEE 802.1Q) VLANs, the AT-FS750/48 can segment the network into workgroups to supply better performance as well as additional security. The new switch delivers excellent Quality of Service (QoS) with four priority queues, ideal for deployment in networks with mixed voice, video and data traffic.

With its support for the IGMP protocol, the AT-FS750/48 enables companies to more efficiently manage resources for high-bandwidth video applications and manage membership of IP multicast groups. Others standards supported by Allied Telesis' new switch include STP and RSTP (Spanning Tree Protocol and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol). These protect the network against link failures by providing it with redundant links.

The AT-FS750/48 is a plug-and-play device that includes web-based management and security functionality at an attractive price. Every year, Allied Telesis ships over 250,000 unmanaged switches that are recognized around the globe for their quality, reliability and value for money.

Allied Telesis' AT-FS750/48 is available now from Allied Telesis offices and distributors.
